It's way past time to hold sexual predators accountable, and to tell victims that their experiences matter, that we believe them, and that no one is entitled to use their bodies sexually without their consent. A few feeble apologies are not enough to erase the rape culture allowed to simmer in secret along with a prejudice against women at the mercy of powerful men.

One victim's voice should be enough for us to collectively say we won't tolerate it. Rape culture thrives as a result of the failure to punish perpetrators, which supports male entitlement, power, and control. One way people who gain power retain that power is to resist accusations by casting aspersions on victims who dare to speak up. To make a difference, men need to take a stand against rape culture, because men are the ones who wield the power to make that stand stick.
