I am a life long black Columbian who has seen the good and also the ugly about Columbia over the years. Decent people no matter the color of your skin are afraid to go downtown or the business loop because of crime, aggressive vagrants and dope addicts. Mr Choi at least seems to care.

Speak for yourself, as a dark brown skin man I have no problem walking around Columbia Missouri whether it's daylight or night time. I mind my own business and I never ever see any trouble except pigs AKA cops trying to find trouble. If I do see trouble it's usually these drunk college kids downtown

So called city leaders can pretend there is no problem but the facts speak for themselves. There is a public safety issue downtown and it is being caused by a very small segment of the population who the liberal leaders like to pander to.

I think city leaders are trying but not hard enough. I think that % of crime may be going down. But regardless crime is unacceptable in is present state. Our city now has the money to do something serious to stop crime. But it cannot be same old same old and it must include the court system.

Mr. Choi has greater skills than Columbia's government when it comes to solving problems.

He doesn't do nuisance. Just blusters half truths and demands. His fiefdom isn't a democracy, and he doesn't care about our local democratic system or seem to acknowledge that it is a slower process than we would all like. Democracy is for long term stability. Dictatorships are quick but ugly.

Because people in those positions that are not from the same environments and who don't personally interact to learn to understand the deep rooted trauma and dysfunction, that comes with an oppressed race, has no room in my opinion to judge those he's not willing to personally help with personal inv

I don't know what Choi's angle is, but he should focus on running the UM system into the ground.

Because a lot of the people that are complaining about the crime downtown are only watching what the media is putting out there. They're not actually going downtown walking around downtown seeing there's little to no crime. It's all projection. And when there is trouble it's usually the college kids

If MU loses $70 million in funding, the difference will have to come from somewhere? Often times that means people losing jobs, jobs becoming consolidated, and tuition costs rising for students. As an adjunct instructor at MU I already see that school is expensive and I am underpaid.

MU has plenty of DEI professors that they could let go.

Start revoking degrees of UM alumni starting with those who work in state government

How about a comprehensive audit by an outside firm to see where every nickel is going.

It’s going to fund the athletic department and the sports programs. There needs to be a law banning taxpayer funded state employees from attending college and professional athletic events in the state. Make it a class a felony with a life in prison sentence. Also revoke their degrees and pensions

It’s “couldn’t care less”, dumm azz. You must be a UM Engineering school grad to be that stupid. Go back to your highway dept office cubical and figure out more ways to mess up real people’s lives with your “synchronized stoplights” and “federal regulations” on highway signs.
