Mixing finishes gives you the freedom to choose what you love and not be constrained to a finish family. It can also add more visual interest to a space.

This is one trend I cannot get on board with. Not that I love Matchy-Matchy either, and I like combining a matte finish with a satin finish but should be same metal

I am currently stuck with carpet and my allergies do not like it. I also like the layering effect of area rugs- make the one next to the bed be fluffy and soft

They're much easier to clean and you can always change out the rugs.

Cozy carpets!

Carpeting can add actual warmth to a space, absorb sound and many prefer the feel of carpet for a bedroom over hard flooring.
