ISU doesn't offer any upside. Lose, it's a bad loss. Win, it's just a mediocre team that Iowa beat.

It just isn't worth for Iowa to play them home and home. Maybe 2/3 years or something but we need to get a good matchup every few years

I'd rather win/lose to a top 25 to middle of the road power 5 in a recruitment hotbed than ISU. Iowa gets no benefit out of playing them, the excuse that it helps the state is a joke. What do hawks gain

Although I would be more in favor of playing it a couple times every 3/4 years instead of getting rid of it altogether

Gives a chance for the biggest population base in the state to see all 4 of the state's D-1 basketball teams.

Because I live in Des Moines and it's an easy way to see two great basketball games that I wouldn't be able to see if they were true home games for any team.

I have friends that cheer for all four teams. Everyone gets to see their team play. We all get together and make a day out of it.

It's a good rivalry and ISU is a power 5 school. Iowa needs to add a big non conference game in another slot.

Fans are fooling themselves if they think we're ever going to be respected early in the season. It's the Ws youve aquired at the end of November that command respect when it matters. Keep em as fodder

There are 3 non-conference games that get played each year. Drop a MAC or FCS team from the schedule and replace with another Power 5 school. This is a good rivalry for the state of Iowa.

Keep ISU and drop one of our token MAC games for a high profile matchup. It's one of the few instate rivalries in the nation between 2 P5 teams from different conf + Iowa kids want to beat ISU. Generally, when we can't beat ISU in week 2, we're probably going to get beat by anyone better we play.

Means too much for the stat. Even as a die hard iowa fan, the number of times overall strength of schedule will come into play i not worth losing the rivalry.

Over the last several years the series has been back and forth, but Iowa seems to be more focused on building that national brand that can compete, and recruit with the best in college football. Dropping Iowa State, and booking Power 5 opponents early will only help further establish Iowa football.

if we beat ISU it doesn't matter (you may even drop in the polls), if we lose our season is over. If you lose to ND, USC, Florida, etc. it doesn't hurt, they're good programs and you can still rebound in the polls. You beat those teams and it catapults you in the rankings and sets up the season.

If you're an ISU fan you want it. There is nothing to gain for Iowa and I am simply tired of hearing the national pundits be right about the hox out of conference schedule. They are right whether I like it or not. Why give them a narrative to follow? ryan

While I concede the Cyclones have made the series competitive since 1998 (which is apparently when football started at ISU), I simply don't believe this game offers anything to the Hawks. I would like to see the Hawks play other Power 5 programs.

Iowa needs to step up the non conference teams to have tougher schedules. It helps prepare for the Big Ten teams & helps get better position in post season games.

It's a no-win situation for Iowa, if we win - well we should have. Iowa doesn't benefit in any way from this game, unless it's financial.

Until they are consistently competitive for a little 12 title it hurts us to play them.

We can play them every other year, but also open up opportunities to play in marquee matchups and in neutral field games. These would be better for recruiting and more equitable in terms of profit sharing.

I get that it is good for the state but it is still a no win situation nationally for Iowa. I'd rather beef up the schedule. A loss to LSU/Oklahoma/Arkansas or anyone like that is better than beating Iowa St.

Lose lose situation. Now that would change if they became relevant in the Big 12 or at least won 8 or more games a year on a regular basis, otherwise they go the way of the FCS teams. They are an FCS program (or at best MAC) masquerading as a power 5 program anyway.

Huge assumption that they're going to replace it with a more "storied" program, which by the way is a two-way street as the other program has to want to play THEM too.
