Peele and DaCosta don't do anything to ruin the Candyman story, but this is yet another movie that we didn't need & the original is just far and away better. There are less scares & less gore, and the presence of Candyman is very different in this story, just didn't quite hit for me. In the world of Candyman, there can be only one & his name is Tony Todd, period end of sentence.

The fact that this movie understands what makes Candyman, Candyman is why it 100% lives up to the OG.
