There are too many people out there that see the "common good" as "government interference". If this were 70 years ago, these same people would claim the polio vaccine was a "communist plot" to take over the world. Polio would be a major scourge on our lives, just as Covid is today.

As the virus mutates the vaccines will become less effective and will have to be readjusted and given each fall. There will be a number of people who haven't taken any vaccine who will get infected. This resemble our regular flu outbreaks in the fall and winter from now on..
