In a sense, WW3 is already here. Russia, China, and North Korea are already established in enmity with the west, and the US in particular. How the Ukraine campaign goes for Russia will decide China's promised invasion of Taiwan.

I am not for the aggression suggested by using War in the name.

Department of War implies that we are aggressors starting wars, while Department of Defense implies that we will fend off aggressors to maintain peace. I much prefer the latter.
