The shooter, Stephen Paddock, stayed at MGM's Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas before opening fire from his 32nd floor window and killing 58 people attending a country music concert. Several people at the hotel saw the gunman move his cases and belongings up to his room, but they never questioned him or stopped him. Security should have done a better job scouting out the gunman, or housekeeping should have done a check on his room at some point during this stay.

The hotel isn't liable for anyone's death in that terrible shooting because the person who fired all of those bullets is dead. None of the employees of the hotel opened fire to kill anyone, and they were just going about their daily jobs. There were more people at the hotel than just Stephen Paddock, and he wasn't perceived as a threat until the night of the shooting. Lawsuits about liability aren't going to bring those 58 people back.
