It's just getting started in SE Wisconsin. A few more weeks and it'll be gorgeous.

I live in the AZ desert. Driving an hour or two to see foilage in the North just has never seemed that important to me. Maybe if I lived back east. The pictures look pretty spectacular in some places.

I live in Nevada, most people have ever greens. The decorative lemon tree we have (which feeds birds and not us) drops all of its leaves in one weekend. They're not beautiful enough to make up for the nuisance of all the raking.

I could never live in a state that didn't have a beautiful fall season. Anything else is a desert wasteland. Don't give me year round, dead brown (ahem...Southwest). I prefer the colors of life around me!!

I live in New Jersey, "The garden state". People in central and south Jersey are very particular about about lawns, gardens, and everything green. Up in north Jersey it's mostly urban, so the only plants up there are potted.

I wish I did but a good quality emerald is so expensive. Yes, there are "created" emeralds, but unlike diamonds which look great, the created emeralds do not.

To continue my story (this is 3/3), I was very envious when one of my best friends got faux emeralds for her birthday and wore them first. However, I was happy to wear mine anyway. My friends bulled me because I was a "copycat" even tho they all knew I had received mine first. #meangirls!

My parents got me faux emeralds as my first pair of pierced earings and I looked at them in the box until my mom could find the "self-piercing" rings that slowly worked into your ear over a couple of weeks. When I proudly wore my birthstone earings to school my best friends bullied.

My birthstone is Amethyst. I like it. I like the color. But one, I prefer Emeralds. And two, I don't wear jewelry anymore.

No, I have no rubies, and I wept mock tears for my husband's benefit answering this.
