We need to be reminded - even though the PC destroyers would have us not.

You can not use the argument that this symbol of racism is educational as your reason to leave it up if you're unwilling to educate people about it, right there on the spot. Provide a plaque or remove the racist statue.

If American history is being taught in our schools, then everyone should know the good and bad sides of Thomas Jefferson. I don't think we need to have a sign explaining that.

If people want to know the history of Thomas Jefferson then they need to research it and come to their own conclusions. Interpretive signs can be, and most likely will be, used to push one towards one conclusion over the other, depending on what message about the statute they want conveyed.

The real question is - what is your opinion of graduates of UM? Where I live, it's not good at all. No one around here has any respect for UM grads, and rightfully so.

If we're going to start providing context about the lives of men honored by statues, I suggest starting with George Floyd.

He was one of the Fathers of our Nation. Things were different then, and times have changed. People need to get over themselves.
