Replied "Bonnie, you and me both! Someone mentioned the additional stress to an all ready over loaded power grid especially in the American Southwest! They have rolling blackouts during heatwave now. How would they charge their cars with no power?"
Replied "I didn't even think about that. The cost of the whole thing, price of car and cost of charging station install, is prohibitive, but you make an excellent point. California can't keep the lights on during heat waves as it is. If everyone had electric cars they wouldn't be able to charge them anyway! "
Commented "They are too expensive for the car AND to have a charging hook up put into my house would cost approximately $10,000. Who can afford that? Certainly not a disabled old woman like me. I'll keep my 2 gas efficient Ford SUVs. My husband agrees with me."
